Frequently
asked Questions.
When should I expect to receive
my veil? Our current manufacture time is 3 weeks and our rush order time is 7-10 days . You can choose
the service you require at checkout. For the Illusions veils and headpieces which are shipped over from the United States,
the delivery time is 4-6 weeks. Jessica Lauren veils and tiaras are available for immediate despatch.
Can I order samples of the fabric colours? Yes samples
are available here What are the
veils made from? We use two main types of fabric. A fabric called bridal illusion is what we use mostly
as it is a much finer and softer fabric that is beautifully sheer and lovely to wear against the skin. We strongly believe
it to be the softest veil fabric available, however, it is only available in white, diamond white or ivory. For our other
colours such as champagne, honey gold, blush pink etc, we use the highest quality British tulle available. If you have seen
and felt other veils that are much stiffer and scratchier in texture, this is usually because they are made of a cheaper tulle
or net. Why are you so much cheaper than the
bridal shops? Simply because we are the manufacturer as well as the end retailer with
our own factory here in the UK where we create all of our stunning veils, so we cut out the "middle-man" so to speak. Can we come and try
them on in person? Yes, if you are in the local area we are happy for you to come down
and see the veils. We would just ask that you phone first to make sure we have time to speak with you in detail and aren't
in the middle of a big rush order or anything.
Do
you do any other colours apart from the ones on your colour chart? Yes there are a few other colours
that aren't shown because they are not often requested such as pale blue, lilac, silver and metallic silver. A selected
number of veils are also available in red/burgundy. Can I customise any of the veils shown on this site? We have a number of veils
on site that can be customised in some way, perhaps by having a contrasting coloured edge put on, or perhaps
having scattered beads in your bridesmaid's colours etc. Whatever you have in mind we are happy to assist you in
creating it. How are the veils shipped?
Veils are shipped either by Royal mail Recorded delivery or Royal Mail Special Delivery which are both recorded
trackable services in the UK and by International courier (usually DHL) for the rest of the world. Although we offer both
services we would strongly recommend using Special Delivery as it is a priority service and is guaranteed next day. 1st class
recorded items if lost or delayed will not be dealt with by Royal Mail until 15 days have passed and this could be too late
for your wedding. How
are the veils packaged? They are packed carefully in tissue paper and packaged in lovely keepsake
boxes. We send each veil out with a complementary garment cover so you can hang it up and store it at home without having
to worry about it getting damaged in any way. Do
the veils come attached to combs? Yes, all of them. I think we may have confused some
people by mentioning a "veil clip" this is an extra product you can buy to store/hang your veil at home, it does
not mean the hair comb attached to the veil itself.. What is a veil storage clip? It’s a
stainless steel clip with a hook for you to store your veil at home. It has a smooth black non-slip material on the end of
the clip which holds your veil by the comb with no rough edges which could snag your veil as on a conventional coat hanger.

- What is the difference between centre gathered veils and fully gathered
veils? This is one of the most frequently
asked questions and it is hard to explain without a visual aid, therefore we set up a page which explains it with images,
please click here
- Are all your accents made by Swarovski?
Yes, all of our hand scattered pearls, diamantes and crystals are made by Swarovski crystal. Only the best for us!
How do
I secure the veil in my hair? Different manufacturers attach combs to their veils' in
different ways. Some veils come with the comb teeth already pointing down in position to be slid into the hair. We don't
like this method as we feel you can see too much of the comb and the raw edges of the veil when worn. Our veils come with
the combs pointing up, which you then flip over and down before positioning in the hair. This means the
comb is completely hidden, as are the top raw edges of the veil and it looks lovely and neat and feels more secure. It also makes it easier for you to hang your veil up by the comb on
one of our veil clips whilst it's being stored for your big day. The picture on the right shows one of our veils in position.
As you can see, the comb is completely concealed Do any
of the veils come attached to a headpiece? They don't come attached as a general rule
but we can add veils to headbands and tiaras if required, please email us to find out more. How do I remove any wrinkles
that may have occurred during shipping? All of the veils are steamed and pressed by us immediately
prior to shipping at our own risk. Please (pretty please?) do not attempt to iron your one and only veil! Any
creases that have occurred will be very light as the veil will only have been in the box for 24 hours so the wrinkles will
fall out naturally in a few days. If you are in a rush to get the wrinkles out, steam works wonders on veils and in fact,
we use a machine with continuous steam here and it just blows the wrinkles right out. Again, I will stress, if you are going
to steam it at home, make sure you don’t touch the veil directly with anything too hot, or it will melt. What
is your return policy? To see our terms of trading and policies
in full please click here or, to summarise, the only items we sell that are not returnable are custom veils
made to your design, everything else can be returned for a no quibble refund or exchange. I don't want to wear the
veil over my face, should I order a single tier veil? Many
brides are choosing not to wear the veil over their face as they take their promenade down the aisle, but this doesn't
mean you can't have a two or even a three tiered veil. It's of much greater importance that the veil looks how you
want it to when worn at the back as that is how it will be seen for the majority of the time. Are there any other
styles available other than the ones shown on the site? There
are an endless number of styles available here at The Wedding Veil Shop, far too many to list. If you are looking for something
that you can't see, let us know or fill out a custom order form and we will assist you in creating the veil of your dreams. I don't want anything
to bouffant, what width should I choose? If you are custom ordering
your veil you'll notice you can select your own width, the most popular width is 72" wide and that’s fine for
most brides. Something that makes a huge difference to how full the veil looks when worn is the positioning in the hair- almost
more so than the width of the fabric. For example, if you wear it right on top of the head it has to go down the sides of
the face, over the arms and shoulders,
making it appear much fuller than if you were to wear it lower down, towards the nape of the neck, perhaps under an up-do
hairstyle. Then it would naturally fall in a sleek column just down the back instead. Our model in our veil photo's has
it positioned at the back like this in most of the pictures. In the pictures where the veil covers her arms, this is usually
been done deliberately just to show the veil design in the picture. You could flip it back behind you and it would stay there
if you preferred. Basically, you can fluff and arrange them to get the look you are after. (And then you'll move your
head and it will do whatever it darn well pleases!)
